The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. In the spring of 1910 the Great Northern Railroad developed the community of Hingham, and many families came to take advantage of the Homestead Act. Many felt the need for a church and Christian fellowship. A call was sent out for a pastor, and on December 24, 1910 Rev. T. O. Kjos organized the Hingham Norwegian Lutheran Church.
